April 11th
| Obtaining VIP Cards The Bottom Line was the place, seven o'clock was the time, our goal, VIP cards for the Starboard! Eight members of the Bombay Bungalow house meet in Washington D.C. on April 11th to obtain their Starboard VIP cards and have the opportunity to introduce/reintroduce themselves to new house members. Thought the Starboard web site indicated that they would be taking photos for our VIP cards outside, they most certainly weren't. The Bottom Line was absolutely packed. So packed in fact that some individuals that showed up late were asked to come back the following evening.
After the initial rush of VIP photos and "Hi, my name is..., I'm a friend of...", a majority of our group relaxed with a few handfuls of Miller Lite (it was on special). Once the ice luge started up, things became a little more interesting. It was John EG's birthday so we negotiated a two for one ice luge for him with one of the waitresses. Everything was going fine until half way through John's run. A luge "coordinator", everyone will remember him as the old guy in the Green Jacket, started ridiculing him for not drinking fast enough. I didn't want to waste my time trying to educate the guy that it's almost impossible to suck that much fluid through a bar straw, so instead I proceeded to make fun of him by calling him the trailer-trash version of Hugh Hefner.
At around ten, we lost a few members of our clan to the realization that they had to work the next day, and had received what they had come for. The remaining Bombay Bungalow crowd stayed for a few more beers, and then headed out for the late night food stop. We finally decided on McDonalds of all places.
The phrase of the day had to have been "gee, I can't wait for Dewey". It was murmuring through The Bottom Line all night long with stories of past Dewey experiences. I can't wait... -Mitchell |
